Job description: Working with an award winning MGA located in Downtown Toronto that is looking to hire a Team player to join their growing Team and Professional lines/Medical Malpractice Book, your key responsibilities will be to assist in the underwriting and develop business with their Binder markets and new and existing Retail Brokers.
Title: Professional Liability Underwriter
Location: Downtown Toronto (hybrid)
Responsibilities:
Professional Lines/E&O, Medical Malpractice Underwriting
- Underwrite new business as presented by a broker’s office
- Achieve assigned monthly sales goals
- Maintain the existing renewal book
- Underwrite and negotiate renewals
- Produce from and have an existing Broker following
- Ensure Customer Service Standards are consistently met
Portfolio Management
- Monitor each key Broker’s results semi-annually
- Monitor Underlying Portfolio results and adjust accordingly
- Report directly to Senior management
- Ensure Profitable risk selection
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years underwriting experience (preference of MGA experience)
- Experience with E&O, Med-Mal and CGL portfolio required
- Post-secondary education
- CIP/FCIP designation or in progress
- Developed knowledge and applied experience in the application of industry legislation and regulations; knowledge of industry objectives, trends and issues
- Demonstrated sales and marketing experience
- Possess excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Capable of making sound business decisions where there are areas of ambiguity
- Able and motivated to work in cross-functional teams as well as independently
