We currently have an opening in our SRD Underwriting Department in reporting to our Ottawa office for an Underwriter II.

We will count on you to:
- Review and analyze submissions
- Identify and obtain additional information required to conduct a proper analysis of risk including cross-referencing with other departments
- Assess exposure and determine rates, terms and conditions of coverage in accordance with underwriting guidelines
- Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers
- Sign policies and authorize transmittal of documents to brokers and markets as required
- Prepare and maintain periodic reports pertinent to the ongoing operation
- Service current accounts
- Provide advice and expertise to other underwriters on underwriting issues
- Develop and maintain an awareness of claims and exposures
- Maintain an awareness of market conditions, profitability initiatives and competitions
- Perform other related duties as requires
What you need to have:
- Post secondary education in insurance, business administration or related discipline
- 1-2 years work experience in insurance industry
- Fluently bilingual in both written and oral French is required
- Outstanding customer service and negotiation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical, logical, organized and decisive
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively function in a team environment
- Computer literate in Word, Excel and Outlook
