    RMA was founded in 1996. Its head office is in the financial district of Toronto, Canada with market representation in the United States. RMA is a member company of Starwind Specialty, a division of Truist Insurance Holdings.

    RMA is a licensed Life and Health Agency with Property and Casualty Broker licenses throughout Canada. Its primary focus is to provide flexible and innovative ideas, technical expertise and customized solutions to leading insurance and reinsurance companies both in Canada and USA. Our team consists of actuaries, underwriters, claims and treaty professionals as well as reinsurance administrative specialists.

    RMA offers worksite flexibility and teammates may elect to work hybrid or permanently from home. Teammates will be required to attend the Company offices for regular collaboration days and other department, or Company meetings as required. The Company’s standard work week is 35 hours.

    Overview

    The position reports to the Associate Director Treaties, Life Reinsurance with a primary focus on the analysis and administration of life reinsurance contracts.

    As RMA is a small dynamic company, you will be expected to be flexible in your role, however, the position’s primary responsibilities are:

    • Review draft treaties, or other types of contracts, and amendments, for individual, group, and other lines of reinsurance business ensuring all terms are as negotiated and agreed upon by all parties involved.
    • Document treaty and amendment review discussion points and decisions made.
    • Communicate with internal partners and reinsurance partners and clients on treaty terms and reviews and on other related matters.
    • Coordinate/participate in conference calls, with internal and external pricing actuaries and/or legal counsel.
    • Coordinate the exchange of information among insurance companies and reinsurance partners to ensure the required Letters of Credit and other collaterals are in place.
    • Maintain accurate information and treaty data in supporting systems and prepare client treaty reporting.

    Qualifications

    • Completion of university degree. Relevant work experience in the life insurance/reinsurance industry would be an asset.
    • Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance principles, practices, and trends pertaining to reinsurance contracts would be an asset.
    • Strong detail orientation while having the ability to keep in sight the broader implications of the task at hand.
    • Ability to focus and manage multiple tasks with multiple stakeholders.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and within a team.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Willingness to take industry-related courses.
    • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, Excel and Teams. Knowledge of Access would be an asset.
