The Opportunity: We’re looking for a Solution Architect to join our IT team.
Your role will be required to regularly perform essential duties on behalf of the company from your assigned Aviso office. Your role is considered medium flexibility, requiring you to work onsite 1-3 days per week at our office at 1111 West Georgia St, Vancouver, BC.
Reporting to the Director, Solutions and Architecture, the Solution Architect is responsible for delivering and maintaining enterprise reference architecture for application products development and solutions integration, with open API & cloud computing strategy. Building technology runway for integrating application products, data, and solutions effectively towards composable enterprise solutions capability. The incumbent will also research, recommend and drive adoption of innovative digital transformation technologies for enhancing enterprise technology capabilities.

What your day looks like:
- Provides solutions architecture to fulfill business objectives, including integration solutions with our partners, or with other third-party service providers
- Performs assessments and documents current state solution architecture and current state application products landscape for different line of business
- Works with business stakeholders to understand the business technology vision. Defines scalable and adaptable solution integration strategy and composable application product reference architecture
- Breaks down the target architecture into achievable technology capabilities and implementation roadmap for architectural building blocks
- Identifies any integration, technology advancement and cost savings opportunities, create technology solution roadmap for enhancing interoperability, standardization, and reuse of enterprise technologies
- Performs solution architectural review for quality deliverables and compliance with IT governance, security, disaster recovery and other risks concerns
- As a technical lead in project/solution implementation with agile methodologies, influencing the technology decisions and giving technical directions to delivery teams on complex solutions
- Collaborates with partners with business stakeholders, delivery teams, security team, data team, IT ops team and other stakeholders, provides technical leadership during application product implementation
- Researches and recommends emerging technologies and financial industry solutions that could drive the company’s competitive advantages and cost savings opportunities. Provides technology recommendation for changes and drives architecture council approval process for new technologies adoption
Requirements
Your experience and skills:
- Post-secondary degree in the field of computer science, engineering, information systems, or in a related field
- 5+ years of experience in solution architecture and technology vendors’ products integration
- 3+ years of experience in solution implementation with mesh up UI framework, APIs, third party widgets/APIs integration, in a heterogeneous environment with .NET and/or J2EE technology stack
- 3+ years with Agile, Cloud Service Models and DevSecOps
- Solid understanding of architectural principles of cloud-based platforms (Azure preferred) including SaaS, PaaS, multitenancy, and multi-tiered infrastructure
- 3+ years of experience in wealth management or financial industry and understand the strategic technology capabilities and business capabilities relationship
- Extensive experience in documenting enterprise and solution architecture, integration specifications, application products reference architecture and technology roadmaps
- Extensive experience with multi-tiers service-oriented architecture, microservice design, API gateway/management, cloud-native applications development, event driven architecture and enterprise integration patterns
- Experience in designing and deploying cloud-native enterprise applications in public or private cloud platforms, with APIs and container technologies
- Experience in the latest web development and mobile development framework technologies, and understand their pros and cons
- Solid experience in software engineering, solutions integrations and reference architecture development and execution
- Ability to understand technical challenges and risks, identify implications of certain decisions and make educated trade-offs in terms of complexity, depth, or timelines with your team
- Ability to present to executives on architecture concepts and design decisions at right level
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, enterprise-minded, and innovative problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently with competing priorities and driving positive results, balance individual decisions and organization goals
- Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset
