    We are looking for a driven, forward-thinking, and creative Senior Underwriting Analyst for our Personal Insurance department. You will be reporting to one of the Senior Managers of Personal Insurance Underwriting Policy. This role will be responsible to support the Personal Lines and Specialty Personal Lines businesses in both the broker and direct channels.

    This position is responsible for Aviva’s Personal and Specialty Personal Insurance businesses from an underwriting and risk perspective. This position is key to supporting the business leaders within NPI as well as working directly with the front-line underwriting staff & our partners, fostering a positive and dynamic work environment that values people and achieves outperforming results.

    The position requires strong technical understanding of the personal lines P&C industry. This role will be responsible to support the Personal & Specialty Personal Lines businesses in both the broker and direct channels. The position is accountable to product, underwriting and risk within a collaborative environment identifying trends, discrepancies, and opportunities.

    The expectation is to provide a distribution channel aligned underwriting experience while supporting key governance priorities underpinned by a strong risk and control framework.

    What you’ll do

    Work directly as support for the execution of product initiatives

    Work in partnership with underwriting front-line staff, MGA’s and front-line leaders pertaining to underwriting and workflows

    Supports the growth and profitability of a $3.5B+ portfolio

    Supports the execution of key Personal and Specialty Personal Lines initiatives in pursuit of profitable business growth

    Ongoing and regular reporting on applicable underwriting controls

    Relentless focus on consistent and high performing underwriting throughout Personal Lines

    Assist in the introduction and communication of rating and strategies, coverage and/or product changes in a timely manner

    Help to maximize efficiencies through simplifying business practices

    Support Product/Rate Change Priorities where applicable

    Identify Underwriting trends with National Underwriting

    Provide training and underwriting calibration with front-line staff to ensure an aligned underwriting experience for both the broker and direct channels

    Continuously working to identify areas of concern using trending and industry developments

    Identify discrepancies between distribution channels and work to ensure an aligned experience and workflow

    Strong communication capabilities to ensure accurate messaging of information flows both to the front-line staff and to Personal Lines underwriting management

    Develop strong collaborative relationships with internal and external partners designed to support and drive outperforming results

    Complete Technical analysis, provide advice and support for: Pricing, Underwriting & Product Development, Systems, Digital

    What you’ll bring

    University degree and/or College Diploma

    Advance degree and/or professional qualification preferred

    Minimum 6-8 yrs. experience in the Property and Casualty business (emphasis on Specialty related products is an asset)

    5 years Technical Underwriting experience including an understanding of the P&C regulatory environment

    Prior experience with project initiatives in a leading or supporting role

    French speaking is an asset

    Strong relationship building skills
