As a member of the Loss Sensitive Casualty underwriting team, the role is at the core of our continued success in the alternative risk solutions landscape and AIG’s leading position in the commercial Insurance marketplace. Loss Sensitive Casualty Lines provide customized alternative risk solutions for specific organizations. Loss Sensitive Casualty underwriters provide expertise in creative and flexible solutions for complex risks, spanning a variety of industries. Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, the candidate will be responsible for:
- Underwriting of various Alternative Risk Casualty Commercial General Liability and Automobile insurance programs (e.g., pricing, plan design, and coverage selections) by considering all factors related to the account.
- Working with our Loss Control Specialists in assisting our clients in risks mitigation techniques and ensuring a continued involvement with our underwriting team in the risk selection process and ongoing evaluations.
- Maintaining a good understanding of all Provincial Automobile Insurance regulations. General understanding of Commercial General Liability and associated industry exposure.
- Developing and fostering broker and client relationships. Assuming ownership of assigned accounts within loss sensitive book and providing exceptional service to stakeholders.
- Determining acceptability of risk in accordance with company standards and guidelines.
- Collaboration with claims, credit, and actuarial departments on loss sensitive programs.
- Securing reinsurance through AIG Reinsurance Platform as needed.
- Maintaining familiarity with market conditions, industry loss trends, and major economic factors affecting each line of business.
What we are looking for:
- Minimum of 5-years experience underwriting Commercial Accounts. Loss Sensitive Alternative Risk experience is a strong plus.
- Experience with Captive Insurance Programs is desired and will be a strong asset.
- University Degree Preferred.
- CIP/FCIP an asset.
- Proven self-starter and independent thinker with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Candidates must possess strong oral and written communication skills, as broker and client facing marketing is a significant part of this role.
- Ability to work independently to meet deadlines following company guidelines as well as in a team-oriented approach to accomplish goals.
- Confident knowledge of systems and PC applications, especially utilizing spreadsheets.
