We have a career opportunity for a Senior Field Underwriter, Equipment Breakdown in our Engineering team. We are looking for an underwriter who can cover the Alberta region.
You will be focused on underwriting a portfolio of Commercial Equipment Breakdown business comprising of medium to complex hazard risks, and to build and maintain positive relationships with brokers with a commitment to customer service excellence. You’ll have a great deal of time in the field and travelling within the region.
What you’ll do
- As the key contact for assigned brokers, you are passionate about conserving and strengthening broker relationships at the transaction level, which will lead to balanced profitable growth.
- Assist in the strategic management of assigned brokers including assistance in; building and supporting commercial plans with the broker; and crafting and developing action plans to meet targets as advised by the regional management team.
- Conduct Broker/Insured sales calls, to develop and underwrite new business and retain key, profitable renewal accounts.
- Assess and evaluate new and existing business on medium to complex hazard risks.
- Set coverage terms and conditions and establish premium to produce sustainable profit for assigned accounts.
- Prepare and expedite concise referrals including recommended action for renewals and new business beyond authority.
- Negotiate terms and conditions of coverage including pricing on renewals, new business quotes and other midterm requests with brokers.
- Maintain awareness of market trends/conditions with respect to price levels and legal trends.
- Assist with training of junior staff and/or broker partners.
What you’ll bring
- 5-8 years commercial lines insurance experience specifically with mid-market and larger more sophisticated accounts
- Enrollment in or completion of CIP (FCIP) designation
- Strong negotiations skills, and demonstrating leadership and influence capabilities
