What can you expect in this role?
Reporting directly to the Quality Engineering Lead, this position will ensure quality for Family’s enterprise system. This role will be responsible for test planning as well as estimating, reviewing, writing, and executing test cases. In addition, the Senior Analyst is responsible for generating, analyzing, documenting, and explaining test results. This role involves leading Individual testing projects and overseeing a group of Intermediate and Junior Quality Engineers throughout the complete Project Lifecycle.
Responsibilities
These include but are not limited to:
Leadership
- Mentor junior quality assurance team members in order to meet company goals.
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies, tools and methodologies, in order to make recommendations where applicable.
- Ability to lead, manage and report on individual testing projects.
Technical
- Create SQL queries in order to test, insert or manipulate test data.
- Develop automated test scripts and constantly incorporate automation in the complete Software Development Life Cycle.
- Automate using existing test automation frameworks and/or participation in creating a framework from scratch.
- Ability to estimate tasks or components and justify the estimates with adequate reasonability.
- Defining a test plan for a particular project and managing the detailed quality assurance tasks for that project through to completion. This plan will include communication and collaboration with other teams or stakeholders within the project.
- Ability to analyze requirements, specifications, and dev design documents to create an efficient and comprehensive set of test cases that you or others will execute.
- Ability to break down projects into smaller tasks that can be assigned to multiple resources.
- Manage defects through the defect lifecycle. This will include performing root cause analysis and writing complete defect information.
- Provide operational business support. This includes providing analysis of incidents and identifying, classifying, and resolving unexpected system behavior.
Strategy/Planning
- Understanding the processes or reports that ensure, or monitor, quality in our software systems in order to update during Team Lead absences.
- Create/maintain an automation strategy, including identifying test scenarios for automation and automating when appropriate.
- Contributes to continuous improvement of the Quality Engineering processes and best practices that warrant and foster application testability, defect prevention, and early detection of defects.
What you bring to the role?
- Must have certification in Quality Assurance (CAST / CSTE / CASQ / CSQA / ISEB / ISTQB, etc.) or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in software testing and automation methodologies and tools including Selenium (C#).
- 2+ years’ experience working with structure query language (SQL), preferably with SQL Server. Should have a strong SQL foundation with the ability to write and understand complex SQL queries.
- Proven experience working on Agile Framework (Scrum, KANBAN), Waterfall Methodology, and Software Development Life Cycle.
- Seasoned experience in Test Automation Frameworks and Test Tracking Tools. Knowledge of Selenium with C# is a Plus.
- Knowledge of defect tracking tools, test case management tools, and automation tools, preferably JIRA, X-Ray, and Visual Studio. Ability to set up / maintain/administer these tools as needed.
- Adaptable and Flexible to changing priorities.
- Ability to prioritize and manage work in a fast-paced environment and provide quality deliverables while catering to changing business requirements.
- Quick Learner and self-starter who can adapt to evolving business requirements/needs and tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to take ownership and lead individual projects with minimal supervision.
- A good understanding of project management and task/resource allocation.
- Preference will be given to an individual with experience in the insurance or financial industry.
- Preference will be given to an individual with automation testing certifications or proven experience in test automation.
- Available for after-hours product installation support/testing.
- Must be a team player and work well with cross-departmental teams.
