    MIM is responsible for enhancing asset value and performance by driving comprehensive portfolio and property-level strategies for both the General Account (balance sheet) and Third-Party mandates. Supporting regional offices across Canada, the United States, and Asia, the Global Real Estate Operations team is accountable for coordinating the global real estate operations, while maintaining global policies, procedures, governance, and compliance over

    real estate operations.

    Reporting to the Director, Global Real Estate Operations, this role will support the global operations function and other initiatives aimed to increase process efficiencies.

    Responsibilities:

    Operating Policies and Standards

    • Support the development and implementation of the Real Estate operational policies and procedures
    • Liaises with senior management and internal collaborators on policy issues, updates and revisions
    • Assist with the development of the global calendar, expense allocation assumptions and reporting templates
    • Find opportunities to build efficiencies in operational processes and support change

    Compliance and Risk Management

    • Support internal audit on behalf of the asset management platform
    • Coordination and oversight of external audit process
    • Respond to audit requests; audit responses are to be clear, concise and well organized
    • Ensure follow ups and resolutions as required for best in class service for both internal and external auditors
    • Responsible for the administration of the AML/TF program within Real Estate and Asset Management to ensure compliance with all applicable internal MFC policies and external regional, federal and state laws, regulations and industry best practices (AML onboarding screening, monitoring and reporting requirements)
    • Organize compliance reporting programs such as – anti-money laundering, privacy assessments and fraud risk assessments
    • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the AML/TF program

    Operations

    • Support activities related to onboarding and offboarding investments
    • Assist with the coordination of Global Real Estate operational initiatives and third-party manager oversight (e.g., annual tenant engagement survey, property management and leasing broker scorecards, maintain sustainability certification inventory, and business continuity plan process)
    • Oversee management of corporate memberships and subscriptions ensuring the global contract inventory is centralized
    • Oversight of third-party property management’s processes, record keeping and due diligence
    • Annual property insurance coordination
    • Platform invoicing

    Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education:

    • Minimum 5 years in a real estate operations role at a real estate investment manager
    • Experience in identifying and assessing risks and designing and testing controls.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Accounting or equivalent practical experience.
    • Ability to manage many different sets of collaborators. Excellent collaboration and good relationship management skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize deadlines
    • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deliverables
    • Skills in troubleshooting, understanding how to source information from our database systems and the ability to access building financials and leasing information from accounting/real estate systems
    • Service-oriented, ability to balance regulatory and policy standards
    • Superior work ethic, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
    • Flexibility to manage multiple and changing priorities
    • Collaborative/teamwork approach and skills is a must
    • Proficient in MS Excel and other MS office tools (e.g., Word and PowerPoint, SharePoint to develop reports, documents and presentations)
    • Strong preference for candidates with experience in anti-money laundering and Know Your Client onboarding activities
    • Knowledge of Yardi accounting system preferred
    • Ability to travel within Canada and the United States on a limited basis

    Salary & Benefits

    The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

    Primary Location Toronto, Ontario

    Salary range is expected to be between $68,775.00 CAD – $114,625.00 CAD
