    Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing Consultant is responsible for helping bring the Sovereign brand to life across our owned, earned and paid media channel – with a specific focus on event managements. This role drives the execution of our marketing strategy through the creative execution of our Community Impact and broker engagement strategies, bringing our purpose to life. This person will champion marketing best practices and help to chart new territory in how we create an engaging experience for all our stakeholders. Problem solving is task specific and guided by established processes. Discretion and confidentiality are required.

    How you will create impact:

    • Collaborate with Sovereign team members across our lines of business to understand their marketing and communication needs, prioritize and align these needs to our business strategy, and develop engaging account-based marketing (ABM) collateral, marketing campaigns, communications, and experience events that supports our business objectives.
    • Recommend, plan and develop creative content campaigns and materials to engage and educate Sovereign’s brokers and partners about our organizational purpose, products, and services.
    • Review and assess marketing program success through proper measurements and analytics reporting.
    • Bring Sovereign’s purpose to life by managing our Community Impact portfolio: lead Sovereign’s external Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) strategy to build brand awareness and increase the adoption of DEI best practices within the insurance sector.
    • Organize and execute DEI initiatives and events with Sovereign’s partners to build brand awareness and deepen relationships.
    • Identify, develop and manage meaningful engagements with external vendors, speakers, and associations (e.g. non-profits) related to DEI.
    • Develop an events strategy in alignment with Sovereign’s business/partnership goals.
    • Conceptualize, organize, and run events (from large-scale cocktail receptions to intimate experiences targeted to specific partners) throughout the year to help deepen relationships with Sovereign’s key stakeholders.
    • Identify key industry events across Canada and manage the conference/event calendar to ensure that Sovereign has a presence where appropriate.

    To join our team:

    • You have five to seven years of experience in marketing, preferably in the insurance or financial sector.
    • You have a post-secondary diploma in Communications, event management, Public Relations, Journalism or a related discipline.
    • You have expert knowledge in marketing best practices, particularly with complex or long-term strategic initiatives.
    • You proactively identify and anticipate business needs/opportunities and actions effectively and through a critical lens for optimal business outcome.
    • A proven ability to build relationships externally and internally and work effectively with people at all levels of an organization, including senior leaders.
    • You are detail oriented, extremely organized, and thrive at managing multiple projects simultaneously.
    • You are a strong communicator with exceptional writing skills.
    • You take initiative, ask questions, and are resourceful.

    What you need to know:

    • You may need to travel occasionally.
    • Extended work hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required.
    • You will be subject to a Criminal Record and Consumer History background check as a condition of employment, in the event you are the successful candidate.
