SMS Equipment is seeking a Corporate Finance, Risk and Controls Manager to join our organization. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Finance, this role is responsible for providing financial, operational and sales support through detailed analysis of specific business issues, offering solutions to improve business processes and managing and leading the JSOX Compliance Process and Operational Audits.

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited too:

• Supporting the Mining and Construction Sales Departments through the creation of strong business relationships with key stakeholders within SMS Equipment. Providing flexibility to decision makers to enable proposals to meet the needs of the Company and Customer while balancing the risks of the proposal.
• Business Process Improvement through the development of annual operational audit plans to analyze the stated controls, identifying gaps, and creating action plans to remediate and identifying opportunities to improve the control environment, make recommendations as needed regarding policies and procedures and work with process owners to implement and maintain changes.
• Contract review and managing the review of contracts for business, financial and risk issues and report these issues to Senior Management. Preparing recommendations for purchase and sale agreements for alternative contract language that supports sales while balancing associated risks. Managing the review and analysis of profitability calculations within agreements and identifying potential risks to profitability to advise Business decision makers and provide alternative solutions.
• JSOX Compliance and managing the development of the specific actions and resources necessary to achieve JSOX compliance and the communication programs necessary to support JSOX project timelines. Developing and executing JSOX assessment test plan. Ensure the effectiveness of ongoing internal controls by designing appropriate testing procedures, performing testing, reviewing testing, and working with process owners to remediate any weaknesses.
• Managing Financial Reporting Packages and Insurance and Risk Management. Managing financial analysis of equipment sales to support financing packages. Providing counsel and advice to Mining Equipment sales regarding annual budget including additional analysis to support specific budgetary estimates as required. Managing the preparation of the annual insurance Statement of Values for submission to the insurance broker and insurance company. Providing responses to general insurance and risk management questions from operations.

Qualifications

This position requires formal training in finance and/or accounting and a related university degree combined with an accounting designation (CPA, CA or CPA with Public Practice experience is preferred). Other requirements include:

• Minimum of 5-7 years post designation experience is preferred.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Strong research and analytical skills required to address a variety of finance, accounting and business issues and make recommendations to management.
• Demonstrated project management, conflict resolution, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Must be familiar with financial information systems.
• Demonstrated experience in preparing financial reports for management.
• Experience in reviewing legal documents including sales contracts, purchase agreements, etc. for risk management and business issues would be an asset.
• Ability to speak and write in French is an asset.
