The Facility Association (FA) is an insurance industry association that Aviva participates in to pool higher risk personal auto policies and then share back losses with other carriers in the industry. The Risk Sharing Pool (RSP) team in Finance is accountable for ensuring the technical underwriting eligibility of the risks ceded into the pool and the accuracy of our reporting to the Facility Association.
We are currently recruiting for an Intermediate Underwriter who will be responsible for supporting the RSP to cede policies to the pool based on the Facility Association Underwriting manual. As an Intermediate Underwriter, you will be working closely with our Broker Partners to verify information used for our RSP reporting in all provinces. The RSP team also works with Claims to ensure accurate claims reporting to the Facility association as well as with other departments to ensure that all systems in the RSP cycle are reconciled.

What you’ll do
You deliver outstanding quality underwriting decisions evaluating the policies from the cede lists or the 15-day claims reports for different provinces (AB, ON, NS, NB) to ensure that policies are ceded to the risk sharing pool is in accordance with the Facility Association underwriting manual.
Complete renewal reviews to verify the risk continues to be eligible for the RSP.
Review and verify Motor Vehicle Reports (MVR) and Prior Carrier Reports (AutoPlus) to confirm underwriting accuracy.
You will follow up on documentation and information with the primary underwriters or with Brokers to ensure that the files are documented in accordance with the FA policies.
Analyze and correct Facility Claims & Premium errors using various systems: FA Portal, ClaimCenter, Broker Portal and/or PolicyCenter.
Identify any unusual financial or underwriting patterns and raise to Sr. Underwriters in National Personal Lines and/or the appropriate Aviva Teams i.e., NPL, IT, Claims
Support the central RSP team on any claims queries or providing documents on claims to the FA.
You will continuously update soft-skills through identified e-learn courses and product/industry knowledge through CIP/FCIP or other related industry accreditations.
You show a high degree of integrity when representing Aviva to Brokers and to the Facility Association or other Regulators.
What you’ll bring
Minimum 4 years insurance experience
Knowledge of auto underwriting in Alberta/Ontario/Atlantic
Strong decision making, problem solving and analytical skills.
Highly motivated and enthusiastic with strong organizational and administrative skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work in team environment with minimal direct supervision.
Knowledge of systems: examples Broker Portal, PolicyCenter, The General, ClaimCenter, FA Portal
CIP designation or working towards CIP
Excellent analytical and investigating skills to efficiently identify technical issues and trends pertaining to reporting errors.
Knowledge of the FA Underwriting manual and FA processes would be an asset
Personal Lines Auto Claims experience would be an asset.
