Job description: Responsible for delivery of market leading risk management and prevention services across Canada in efforts to manage and mitigate risks associated with our customers and protect the Commercial and High Net Worth Personal insurance lines portfolio. You will lead, leading a team of skilled risk consultants to deliver an innovative and solution orientated approach in consultation and collaboration with underwriting, claims and other stakeholder while using insights and risk analytics to enhance the overall risk management process. to meet all of our customer’s risk management needs, prevent and mitigate losses and protect the Commercial portfolio through insight and risk analytics.
What you’ll do
- Owner of the ARMS Strategy development and delivery, building capability to meet the risk engineering needs of the Commercial and High Net Worth Personal Lines business

- Responsible for managing a team of Risk Consultant professionals, acting as a role model, coach and mentor to all field and leadership staff with the ultimate goal of improving ARMS capability and driving a high-performance culture..
- Act as the highest level risk engineering and prevention referral point within Commercial and High Net Worth Personal Lines and conduct comprehensive risk assessments for potential and existing clients.
- Manage underwriter queries, customer and broker relationships and act as the technical decision maker and authority on risk related concerns, guidance, and mitigation strategies.
- Appoint and manage various third-party provider relationships and contracts who deliver national risk engineering services on behalf of Aviva
- Develop a risk reporting strategy to generate detailed reports and analytics on risk exposure, loss trends and risk improvement programs for senior leaders and underwriting teams.
- Developing and delivering risk management innovation strategies to prevent or mitigate risk for our customers through meaningful risk recommendations and risk improvement plans.
- Responsible for leading initiatives for service and process improvements by acting on feedback from customers. Shares ideas with leader, peers and engages team members to fully work through options.
- Lead and ensure compliance with governance frameworks to ensure Risk compliance in line with industry regulations and best practices.
What you’ll bring
Various professional qualifications across Technical Disciplines or equivalent/relevant technical and leadership experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in risk engineering, preferably in the P&C marketplace
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Risk Management or related field
CIP or FCIP qualifications desirable
In addition:
Highly experienced in a technical risk engineering discipline and broad knowledge across the risk management spectrum * Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate and influence at senior management level.
- Extensive knowledge of risk management practices in a regulatory environment.
- Familiarity with relevant software and tools for risk analysis and process management
- Detailed knowledge of risk processes and ability to translate knowledge and experience into recommendations and actions to effectively improve processes/procedures.
- Professional understanding of contract structures (contract policy, clauses and conditions) and ability to work cross functionally with vendor and procurement management.
- Ability to analyse complex information and draw out the relevant facts.
- Detailed knowledge of product range and supporting systems.
- Excellent business development/customer engagement skills in order to influence key contacts in the marketplace.
