The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a Director, Solutions & Architecture to join our Information Technology team.
This can be a remote role, however for those who would like to come into the office we are at 1111 West Georgia St, Vancouver, BC.
Reporting to the VP, Software Engineering the Director, Solutions & Architecture is responsible for technology leadership to address cross technology domain concerns and decisions. This Director, Solutions & Architecture will identify and coordinate definitions for enterprise patterns for Aviso Wealth’s technology platform that spans Public/Private Cloud, On-Premise, and SaaS solutions. This position will also address Data, Integration and Security concerns across these environments and across various IT functional teams and business stakeholder groups to drive architecture decisions. The primary goal is to design for enterprise concerns and promote reuse of patterns for agility, consistency, and cost optimization.

What your day looks like:
- Build and lead a team of talented architects who can influence and lead the enterprise towards its strategic target state
- Provide advisory and design services for key enterprise-wide services
- Work with business lines and Technology Domain Architects to influence and drive reuse, coordinate between service providers to drive coherence of roadmaps and identify synergies and gaps.
- Define and enhance Architectural Governance model that is aligned to the mandate of reuse, automated controls and transparency
- Define Enterprise Architecture Metrics
- Demonstrate the effectiveness and value of Enterprise Architecture across the organization
- Structure the agenda for the Enterprise Architecture Governance Board, a committee of Senior Technology Executives, to approve Technology “Big Bets”, enterprise patterns, and find solutions for process or technology challenges that impede progress to achieve the strategic plan
- Coordinate among distributed architecture and technology teams to facilitate delivery of enterprise capabilities and partner with business lines to create a holistic target state architecture for Aviso Wealth and govern to achieve it
Requirements
Your experience and skills:
- 15+ years of experience leading architecture teams – a combination of managerial and technical leadership
- 5+ years working in financial services
- Strong communications and active listening skills with demonstrate leadership, able to delegate effectively and make and drive decisions with speed
- Expert knowledge, experience, and understanding of architecture, application development, application systems design, and integration
- Experience in MS Azure & Google Cloud is ideal
- A practitioner of both Enterprise Architecture and Product Architecture with a record of both program and delivery outcomes based on their architectures
- Capability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and relationships with distributed functional areas within IT, business groups and shared services
- Must be able to influence the architecture community to take a stance on establishing standards
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and aggressive deliverables and take a leadership role in moving initiatives forward and removing obstacles
- Expertise in key Technology Domain including Cloud, Containers, API, Events, Security, Integration, Infrastructure, Data and Artificial Intelligence
- Have led or been part of an Enterprise Architecture Function
- Experience researching emerging technology and providing Points of View or whitepapers
- Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset
