    The Director of Partnerships and Business Development will work with Israeli early to growth-stage companies in various sectors, supporting their Canadian market entry or expansion efforts as well as liaise with local government officials for the purpose of collaboration around mutually beneficial business collaboration initiatives.

    They are looking for a Director of Partnership and Business Development to be part of the team of professionals, working to promote Israel in the Government of Israel Economic Missions around the world.

    As a member of this network of professionals, you will facilitate mutually beneficial connections between leading Canada-based companies and innovative Israeli companies who wish to enter the Canadian market or scale up an existing presence in it. In this role, you will be work with numerous industries (e.g. agrotech, climate-tech, enterprise, mobile, retail, water-tech, cyber security, fintech, smart cities, etc.) and will promote Canada-Israel business partnerships in the sector vis-à-vis the industry players as well as relevant local government entities. An ideal candidate is an independent worker with strong business instincts, energetic, a quick learner with high level of motivation, who has a strong desire to play a key role in this arena and is able to deliver quality results.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct industry and market research in various sectors
    • Maintain industry knowledge on new technologies and key ecosystem players
    • Provide active assistance to Israeli companies in identifying relevant resources, business opportunities, and contacts to expand into the Canadian market
    • Scout technology in Israel for Canadian companies and investors in view of specific requirements
    • Initiate, lead and execute business events, Israeli participation in conferences, exhibitions, and trade shows, as well as technology roadshows in Canada and Israel Hold online industry-focused seminars and events and broker virtual 1:1 meetings between Israeli and Canadian companies
    • Coordinate meetings between Canadian and Israeli companies at industry conferences and trade shows
    • Attend professional and business events to build strong & trusted relationships with key stakeholders (corporates and investors) in the market
    • Manage relationships with senior professionals, including V.P. and C-level executives at leading Canadian companies, investment firms, and liaise with governmental economic development bodies

    Collaborate with partner organizations (private and governmental) in driving Canada-Israel business activities.

    Job Requirement:

    Qualification:

    • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business or communications-focused field
    • 5+ years of work experience in a relevant client-facing role
    • Prior experience in a government-facing role is an advantage but not a requirement
    • Proven ability to work well independently
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Service oriented
    • Proficient in written and verbal English (knowledge of Hebrew not required but would be an advantage)
    • Self-motivated and enthusiastic about innovation, new technology, entrepreneurship, and international collaboration.

    Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to manage project tasks, event logistics, and databases.

    Comfortable multitasking and working in a fast-paced, intense work environment * Able to effectively communicate with senior executives and government officials, often on semi-technical issues

    • Able to perform well in a multicultural environment (previous experience would be a plus but is not a requirement)
    • Familiarity with a specific industry or tech sector is a plus
    • Startup experience and project management experience are a plus.

    Reporting to: The Director of Partnerships and Business Development will be reporting directly to the Government of Israel Economic Mission to the East Coast and Canada, based in New York.

    Annual Salary: The annual salary range for this position is based on experience.They do not offer bonuses or commissions. Each year you work with us, you will receive an annual salary raise built into our ministry’s compensation structure (5-7% every two years on average). Reimbursements for health insurance, transportation, cell phone, retirement matching, and other benefits are available. Additionally, you will receive paid vacation days, sick days, and time off for some of the Canadian and Jewish holidays.

    Canadian Citizenship or other type of existing work permit in Canada is required. Candidates that hold Israeli citizenship cannot be considered for the position. Candidates that hold both Israeli and Canadian Citizenship are considered Israeli citizens for this purpose, and cannot be considered for this position
