    The Opportunity:

    We are looking for an experienced professional to join the leadership team in SaskTel’s Finance division. This Finance Director position is accountable to the CFO for providing strategic financial information through the SaskTel Holdco five-year financial planning process, as well as leading the development of the SaskTel Telco five-year financial plan ensuring the necessary controls and procedures are in place to effectuate the plan. In addition, this role is accountable for SaskTel’s Enterprise Risk Management process and is expected to work closely with all departments to facilitate planning, budgeting and forecasting.

    Specific Accountabilities:

    • Lead and build the Financial Planning, Risk Management & Departmental Relationship team, ensuring that Finance is a pro-active partner in SaskTel’s business success. Contributes to optimum team performance by

    providing leadership and creating an environment encouraging motivation to achieve business goals and performance targets, providing for development of employees, fostering teamwork and providing recognition

    and feedback. * Responsible for providing strategic financial information through the five-year financial planning process to the SaskTel Executive and Board of Directors. Ensures that the financial plans for each of SaskTel’s subsidiaries and business units are aligned with the Holdco Strategic Plan, challenges and negotiates changes as required. Researches and incorporates the potential impacts of strategic opportunities /risks into SaskTel’s financial plans.

    • Accountable to facilitate the year end expectancy (YEE) for both net income & capital. Works with the subsidiaries and SaskTel Telco management to determine the YEE month. Communicates the YEE to the

    Executive, Board of Directors and CIC.

    • Develops detailed corporate financial and operational assumptions, negotiates department targets, identifies opportunities for change, and administers the processes required to compile revenue, expense and capital budgets.
    • Forecasts corporate operating expenses and inter-company revenues/expenses. Coordinates revenue forecasts with various working groups responsible for products, services or market segments.
    • Accountable to analyze and communicate results and to take proactive action to improve competitive success, operations and financial performance, including responsibility for, capital, revenue and operating expense budgets, monthly variance analysis and explanations.
    • Leads the development of the SaskTel Telco five-year financial plan and budget, together with the necessary controls and procedures to effectuate the plan.

    – Contributes to achieving the financial targets through integration of the budget cycle with the strategic planning process.

    – Develops detailed financial and operational assumptions, negotiates department targets, identifies opportunities for change, and administers the processes required to compile revenue, expense and capital budgets.

    – Accountable to analyze and communicate results and to take proactive action to improve competitive success, operations and financial performance, including responsibility for, capital, revenue and operating expense budgets, monthly variance analysis and explanations. * Accountable for providing leadership in all aspects of SaskTel’s risk management process. Team leads the risk management process to identify, evaluate, mitigate, report and monitor SaskTel’s strategic and operational risks. Accountable for providing updates to key stakeholders which includes SaskTel’s Executive, Board of Directors and

    CIC. * Accountable for the purchase of SaskTel’s insurance policies ensuring that appropriate coverage is in place to protect SaskTel’s assets. Coordinates insurance claims and manages relationships with SaskTel’s broker, insurers and other Crowns.

    • Accountable to provide Telco departments with financial leadership, guidance and expertise in all areas of Finance. Ensures that client departments have a central point of contact in Finance for all financial issues.
    • Accountable for systems and processes that ensure accurate, timely and effective information is forwarded and available to all areas of the business to support senior management decision making.
    • Responsible to ensure that SaskTel Telco’s internal financial controls related to revenue, operating expenses and capital assets are

    up to date and effective. * Responsible for demonstrating commitment to service excellence and customer value with a bias for action to resolve customer issues and concerns in a timely manner.

    • Accountable to minimize and mitigate exposure and impact to business- critical processes through the effective implementation of Business Continuity Plans and in accordance with responsibilities outlined in the Corporate BCM Policy, the Emergency Operations Procedures and the

    emergency Alert Procedures.

    What the Successful Candidate Will Possess:

    • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA).
    • Strong financial background in a managerial environment.
    • Several years’ experience dealing with corporate accounting, financial reporting, capital and operating budget processes within a holding company environment.
    • Ability to work effectively with senior management personnel.
    • Strong inter-personal and negotiation skills.
    • Ability and commitment to sharing appropriate information with internal and external bodies.
    • Solid comprehension of accounting theory and principles and ability to apply to new and existing processes. Understanding of international differences in IFRS and the impact on consolidated financial statement reporting is essential.
    • Knowledge of the telecommunications industry and SaskTel.
    • Ability to lead a group to maintain effectiveness in a changing environment.
