Their expertise and extensive network of specialists ensure that clients’ insurance needs are covered in a strategic, tailor-made and easily understandable way. The company reached the next milestone and is about to lay the foundation of its new branch in Montreal.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As the Director of Underwriting, you will spearhead the contract surety practice, driving the achievement of strategic objectives and establishing the operation in Quebec. Your role will include building new carrier and broker partner relationships, developing and managing all aspects of their underwriting strategy, and establishing an underwriting team.
ABOUT THE POSITION
- Developing and executing underwriting strategy, including market mapping and financial analysis
- Seeking, building, and nurturing close relationships with insurance carriers and broker partners
- Reviewing, analyzing, underwriting and maintaining a profitable book of business (contract surety)
- Acting as a technical expert, actively contributing to underwriting activities and demonstrating expertise in industry-specific knowledge
- Collaborating with senior leaders to create and execute a clear strategy for the contract surety department
- Training, coaching, and mentoring junior colleagues
THE REQUIREMENTS
- Bilingual in English & French
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in a Commercial Insurance
- Solid commercial underwriting background and technical expertise in contract surety are essential
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
