We have an exciting opportunity to join our Personal insurance department. We are seeking a multifaceted, motivated, and experienced AVP, Property and Exposure management.
The Property and Exposure Management Portfolio lead has received the delegated authority from the VP of Personal Lines Underwriting to approve technical decisions related to the property portfolio. This role strives to enable Aviva Personal Lines to deliver significant profitable growth while maintaining underwriting discipline and risk controls and leading the strategic exposure management agenda.
This role is essential to help build our property technical underwriting strategies, support our Personal business ambition, including growth and profit objectives, and specifically work with underwriting, pricing, channel leaders and the CTU Exposure Management team. The focus will be on the entire property portfolio performance across all channels and geographies in Personal Lines.

What you’ll do:
Strategic:
Own the strategic direction and lead all aspects of the performance of the Property line of business in Personal Insurance and exposure management.
Responsible for technical capabilities and sound underwriting governance in the Property portfolio for our Personal Lines business.
Accountable for the delivery of the Property Line of Business results, both top and bottom line, supervising the performance of the business to plan, investigate and correct deviations.
As part of the Aviva Canada Personal Lines Underwriting, identify and manage all insurance-related risks for North America, including, but not limited to, the concentration of risk, risk segment, natural disasters, and exposure management.
Implement and maintain the underwriting vision and strategy aligned with the underwriting vision and strategy of the Personal Lines Channels (Broker, Partnership and Direct).
Support regulatory compliance with regular attestation and evidence.
Governance
Ensure that appropriate audit controls exist for data that serve as the source material for regulatory reports.
Ensure that business reports derived from controlled data are consistent and representative of the actual state of the business.
Risk management responsibilities
Understand and champion the Group’s Risk Management Framework, including all Risk Policies and linked Business Standards; reporting, escalation, and governance processes (including all legal and regulatory requirements).
Maintaining effective and efficient risk management and internal control systems per the agreed risk appetite. Where necessary, directing action plans to resolve ineffective controls and bring associated risks within appetite, including outsourced arrangements, in a timely manner.
Identify, own, and lead any specific key risks and/or key controls you identified as the owner of in iCARE. Maintain appropriate records and ensure that controls are well crafted and operating effectively to mitigate the risks within Aviva’s tolerance level. Report and raise the status of the relevant risks and controls as appropriate.
What you’ll bring:
Undergraduate degree in business, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or other related field or equivalent experience.
10-15 years of relevant technical experience in underwriting, pricing, and reinsurance, including 5+ years of experience in Personal Insurance and portfolio management.
Market reputation for technical underwriting and exposure management.
Knowledge of the regulatory environment and provincial rate filing requirements.
Proven project management capabilities and strong analytical skills.
Understanding of risks faced by Personal business and the controls to manage and mitigate associated risks.
Understanding of the Reinsurance market and understanding of exposures management
A high degree of humility, integrity, and personal pride in doing what is right.
The ability to work closely with other senior executives in developing and implementing creative and strategic ideas.
