Marsh Credit Specialties is seeking a candidate for the following position based in the Toronto and Montreal office:
Associate I – Broking – (Trade Credit Insurance for Banks)

In this market and customer-facing role, the candidate will be directly responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with insurers, and at the same time, delivering excellent customer service, a fundamental Marsh corporate value.
The candidate will be joining Credit Specialties Canada, a team of 6 individuals located in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, servicing corporate and bank clients across Canada. Combined, the team has over 50 years of experience in the banking and insurance industry.
The candidate will have strong business and financial acumen. S/He will have had exposure to credit insurance transactions and financial risk assessment work relating to receivables and supply chain financing across various industry sectors, but also to various other bank asset classes. The candidate will be primarily servicing our bank clients, and as result, will be well placed to have a keen interest in investment banking.

We will count on you to:
Work with our Credit Insurance team in servicing our largest Financial Institution clients, resolving issues promptly in order to maintain client satisfaction.
Independently handle client assignments and work with Senior Brokers for complex client assignments
Leverage credit insurance product knowledge to develop new business opportunities on current accounts
Negotiate with insurance carriers to obtain the best terms, conditions, coverage, and pricing for clients
Analyze risks, develop solutions, provide advice, negotiate terms as well as provide transaction management to satisfy clients’ needs
Update and maintain client portfolio data and help compile reports for client meetings, stewardship discussions and strategic planning with key clients
Support and assist in the design, development, and marketing of new credit insurance products and programs to win new business.
Demonstrate proficient awareness of credit and political risk conditions to better serve and inform clients on insurance market trends.
Update management on issues and progress to, regularly and upon request, ensure high quality client service.
Monitor accounts (payments, collections, policy management etc.), anticipating and preventing problems when possible.
Maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and insurance/reinsurance companies to efficiently communicate client needs and requests.
May assess loan documents and banking credit memos in order to market insurance submissions to underwriters.
May assess and explain for the Client the terms and conditions of the credit insurance coverage sought.
May assess financial statements for all industries with specific knowledge of each industry’s unique financial metrics.
What you need to have:
Undergraduate degree in Business administration (preferably, but not limited to, finance, international business, or accounting).
Highly motivated and demonstrating a strong interest and knowledge in finance, investment and banking.
An impeccable ethical sense
Client service-oriented individuals; Ability to interact with clients.
A keen sense of business and general financial and credit management
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
Strong orientation toward detail
Ability to take initiative and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning / professional development.
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with rapidly changing priorities and demands.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A RIBO license will be required and obtained within 3 months of employment

Fully bilingual, written and spoken French and English
Prior experience in banking, credit insurance underwriting or insurance broking
University degree in Finance or Economics
