Kent & Essex Mutual Insurance Company is recruiting for an Accountant to join our team. As an Accountant, you will assist in the preparation of month end working papers, associated monthly reporting and other projects as assigned. You will complete daily or day to day accounts payable & receivable duties. You will work collaboratively within the team to ensure all key deadlines are met and all tasks are cross trained.
Duties may include, providing support to senior employees including the CFO, assisting with regulatory reporting, participating in the year-end audit process, and other financial projects. In this role as with all financial roles, we ensure to maintain internal controls and adhere to company policies and procedures.
While this position is an in-office position, it does offer the flexibility to work remote occasionally.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in accounting or business administration or equivalent work experience.
3-5 years recent experience in a related accounting position.
Strong financial acumen and analytical. Experience with IFRS is an asset.
Detail oriented, organized, able to meet tight deadlines, and expedite tasks upon request.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and financial reporting software is preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Great Plains would be an asset, as well as experience using Guidewire.
Self-motivated with a positive attitude and willingness to try new things or offer up a new idea.
Highly effective written and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to build a positive, team-oriented environment.
Demonstrated aptitude in dealing with private and confidential information.
You are professional, respectful, and approachable, in all interactions.
