Our Global Corporate and Specialty (GCS) is a general insurance (GI) business that provides insurance solutions for large corporate and specialty products for commercial entities. Its core product lines are Property, Casualty, Auto, Surety, and Equipment Breakdown (EBI).
We are currently seeking top talent to join our Public Sector team within our Programs and Portfolio Solution unit. We are looking for someone passionate and experienced in Commercial P&C Underwriting, who wants to join a winning team. You will be responsible to lead a portfolio of mostly Offer and Acceptance programs in this outstanding segment.
You will prepare concise referrals including recommended action for renewals and new business beyond authority statements.
You will participate in terms and conditions negotiation of coverage including pricing on renewals, new business quotes and other midterm requests with Brokers.
You will conduct Broker/Client calls on key programs for both renewals and new business to build a climate of partnership and negotiation to promote the value of Aviva and support the Aviva Commercial Value Proposition. Maintaining awareness of market trends/conditions with respect to price levels and legal trends on program segments, and of broker management initiatives is another core duty of this position.
What you’ll do
- You will review medium to complex program and account submissions for acceptance within our current company guidelines and pricing strategy.
- Develop and negotiate terms and pricing for presentation to our Broker partners to write long term sustainable and profitable business.
- Build and maintain business relationships with our Broker partners and clients by promoting Aviva products, with emphasis on service levels and our unique value proposition.
- You will work towards finding opportunities for growth, including new business and renewal updates.
- Underwrite claims and liaise with claims personnel as required.
- Work closely with our Actuarial and CAT team to determine pricing strategy and capacity deployment for your portfolio.
- Participate in the sector self-review and Broker audits and/or our Head Office Central Technical Underwriting review process as required.
- Participate in various strategic initiatives and projects, provide support to the Segment Leader as required.
What you’ll bring
- Good experience (3+ years) and knowledge of Commercial lines property and casualty underwriting, experience with larger property exposure a plus.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Effective use of time management and the ability to be a self-starter.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and overall communication style and approach, including familiarity with software for account analysis, preparation of presentations, reports and exhibits (i.e. Excel, Word and Power Point programs)
- Sales/negotiation skills including an aptitude for “face to face” communication with brokers and clients
- CIP designation or enrollment is helpful.
- Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
