Position Details
What you will do
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Actuarial Services, the Manager, Corporate Actuarial leads the Corporate Actuarial team, provides reserve valuation and capital modeling expertise, guides and trains associates and serves as a contact point and subject matter expert for other departments on reserving and capital issues. We are looking to fill this position in either our Mississauga, ON or Montreal, QC office.
- Executes department plan as defined by the Chief Actuary and Director, Corporate Actuarial
- Manages units responsible for reserving and economic capital
- Provide mentoring and coaching to members of the Corporate Actuarial team
- Lead monthly, quarterly and annual reserve valuations
- Lead production of regulator mandated actuarial reports such as the Appointed Actuary’s Report and Dynamic Capital Adequacy Testing (DCAT)
- Lead actuarial involvement in other large scale projects related to reserve valuation, capital modeling and other corporate actuarial topics, such as Own Risk Solvency Assessment (ORSA).
- Provide technical guidance and act as actuarial representative while liaising with other departments
- Acts as a coach for his or her team and emphasizes personalized contact with employees.
- Ability to contribute to determining the company’s strategic focus and business strategies.
Who you are
University Degree in Actuarial Science/Statistics/Math
- Minimum 5 years of experience in P&C insurance actuarial services
- Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) preferred
- Experience in mentoring and developing internal actuarial personnel preferred
- Good knowledge with Microsoft Office, as well as Reserving and Capital modeling tools (ie Resq , Diva or Igloo)
- Has up-to-date knowledge of new regulatory developments affecting P&C insurance business
