ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As the VP, you will be responsible for managing the Commercial Underwriting Department and driving the growth and success of the business. Your primary focus will be on overseeing the operations, cultivating relationships with carrier and broker partners, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional underwriting services.
ABOUT THE JOB
- Overseeing the operation of the Commercial Underwriting Department (30 people across multiple locations in Canada)
- Development and growth of Assistant Vice Presidents (AVPs). This includes providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to enhance their skills and expertise.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the organization by promoting employee engagement, motivation, and job satisfaction. Implement initiatives that enhance teamwork, recognition, and professional development.
- Oversee the workflow and processes to ensure efficient operations. Identify areas for improvement, streamline processes, and implement best practices to optimize productivity and service delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carrier and broker partners. Collaborate with them to develop mutually beneficial strategies, negotiate contracts, and ensure excellent service delivery to our clients.
- Develop and execute strategies to drive the growth and expansion of our commercial insurance business.
- Act as a point of escalation for complex or sensitive client issues, ensuring prompt resolution and maintaining client satisfaction. Collaborate with internal teams to address client concerns and implement corrective actions.
THE REQUIREMENTS
- CIP designation
- 5-10 years of managerial experience required
- Solid Commercial Underwriting background and technical expertise in at least one of the following areas: Professional Lines, Health & Wellness programs, Construction Insurance (residential buildings)
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
COMPENSATION
- $130,000-$150,000
- Annual bonus
