We are seeking a Database COE Lead in our Toronto Canada office.
The DB COE Lead will oversee the technical directions of the DB Architecture, Security & Compliance, Technical Product management, Engineering and DB Consulting teams within the DB COE. These teams are responsible to drive more informed decision making when it comes to selecting the right database solution for new applications, promote best practices, foster innovation, and drive continuous improvement in all aspects of database management and capability delivery.

Work as a mentor for the Database Services Engineering organization
Foster Reuse and Collaboration
Document best practices, continually improving processes and challenging the status quo
Ensure consistent governance and best practice is always met.
Drive engineering excellence
Organise COE meetings, ensuring the COE remains on target with strategy, goals and plans
Acts as the primary point of contact with COE steering committee and other groups across MMC Tech

We will count on you to be:
Highly experienced in topics of databases, processes, controls, and audit practices
Excellent knowledge of current technologies to understand security, audit and compliance implications as well as sound knowledge of emerging DB technologies.
SDLC best practices
Familiarity with DevOps and Platform Engineering

What you need to have:
Strong skill set in Database Security
A degree in computer science, Information Systems Management, or Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is acceptable
Can communicate network and develop relationships effectively across all levels and groups of an organization
Excellent communication skills – verbal and written and strong organizational skills
Sound knowledge and understanding of:
ITIL processes
Audit drivers and processes
Security policies and processes
Database monitoring tools
Excellent technical knowledge in supporting Windows and Linux based Database Technologies in one or more of SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, Postgres, MySqL
Cloud computing technologies and environments as well as containerization
