General Accountability

Performs a variety of engineering duties and tasks related to Subway Vehicle Engineering. This includes assisting in the specification/design development, maintenance practices, and other work related to refurbishment, improvement and repair of rail vehicles and systems.

Key Job Functions

• Provides engineering support for the new acquisition or refurbishment of rail vehicles and assisting to help integrate the rail vehicles into the existing TTC infrastructure
• Assists with the preparation of designs, specifications, standards, policies, work methods, test procedures and drawings
• Assists with investigations and root cause analysis of issues related to vehicles or subsystems of rail vehicles
• Arranges and co-ordinate for required facilities, equipment, resources for completion of test, validation and inspection activities of rail vehicles
• Assists with the testing of rail vehicles
• Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Education and Experience

• Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (i.e., Mechanical, Mechatronic, Engineering or equivalent) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent, combined with similar or related work experience
• Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in the Province of Ontario would be considered an asset.

Additional Requirements

• Demonstrated knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering principles, methods and practices
• Sound judgement, demonstrated analytical and problem solving abilities
• Effective interpersonal, verbal/written communication and technical report writing skills
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with programs used to gather, analyse and report data
• Ability to provide guidance and co-ordinate activities of others to accomplish objectives
• Must be able to acquire TTC Subway/SRT Rule Book Certification as well as successfully complete other training as required in order to effectively and safely complete assigned work
