    Position Summary

    Magellan Aerospace, Corporate has an exciting opportunity for Manager of Tax and Legal. Reporting to our CFO, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the company’s corporate tax and safeguard the interest of the organization through a variety of legal means. As a key member of the Corporate Finance team, the individual will also oversee the company’s insurance plans, contractual financial risks, and international tax audits from Magellan’s side.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Ensure the compliance with Canadian tax legislation including preparation of Canadian corporate tax returns, SR&ED claims, foreign affiliate reporting and conducting research.
    • Act as the primary contact with Canadian and US tax authorities in respect of tax audits.
    • Prepare the quarterly and year-end tax provisions.
    • Assist in the preparation of the working papers in support of the US corporate tax returns; Act as the primary contact with outside US tax preparers.
    • Conduct tax research and oversee various tax projects including transfer pricing studies.
    • Advise on contract interpretation, dispute resolution and other legal risks.
    • Provide legal support for all material transactions, including mergers, acquisitions.
    • Provide general legal advice to the company on an as needed basis.
    • Manage and coordinate litigation, including decision-making regarding case strategy, documents preparation and legal research management of outside counsel.
    • Maintain all required all official corporate filings, documents, reports and records according to the applicable laws and regulations.
    • Preserving the organizations IP assets such as trademarks, copyrights, patents, brand names, etc.
    • Working with Brokers and the business to gather & review renewal information for corporate insurance arrangements
    • Working with the CFO to report to the organization on cover arrangements, premiums and recoveries.
    • Review and negotiate contractual insurance obligations placed on the organization. Instruct Broker to arrange and place appropriate insurance programs to protect the organization.
    • Manage the liability claims notification process to insurers so that the insurers have sufficient information to investigate claims and monitor the effectiveness of the insurer’s claims handling service

    Position Requirements

    • Undergraduate degree in law
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation, finance, business or related field.
    • Proven experience in tax and legal
    • Extensive knowledge of tax legislation
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Strong analytical and communication skills
    • Sound problem-solving skill
