KEY OBJECTIVE:
Reporting the Aviation Practice Leader, this position will provide day to day underwriting and technical support to the Aviation team to contribute to the profitable growth of the book of business in Canada. The Assistant Underwriter position is primarily responsible for assisting the Aviation underwriting team across all lines of business within the Aviation portfolio.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gather and analyze account information and establish support needs for new and in force policies including identify and gather relevant information to quote, produce binders or bind the policy.
- Manage account documentation including the issuance, review and amendment of certificates of insurance, policy documents, midterm endorsements and broker of record letters;
- Assist underwriters to triage and record new business and renewal submissions;
- Track premium income bookings for the Aviation team, meet expected figures and investigate any differences and liaise with the accounting department to implement resolutions;
- Monitor aggregate exposures, assist in the modelling of the Aviation business, and manage and monitor portfolio metrics including weekly financial reporting and monthly risk registers.
- Manage interactions between Underwriting and Operations functions to ensure all outstanding queries are addressed;
- Oversee Broker business pipelines, preparing for and attending relationship meetings where appropriate, foster internal relationships to promote cross-selling opportunities;
- Produce on-demand reports to identify past production metrics, future opportunities and performance data
- Pre-populate worksheets, ensure data quality, compile loss information for analysis.
- Develop and establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
- Contribute to projects as required to improve the business and continually developing personal and professional skills;
- Attend technical presentations and training programs, both internally and externally, to enhance technical understanding of the Aviation product line.
- Follow underwriting strategies and service plans that align with the Company’s financial goals;
