ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Commercial Underwriting Specialist, you will evaluate large and complex commercial insurance risks, negotiate policy terms, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide tailored insurance solutions. You will be responsible for applications based on company underwriting guidelines, regulations, and authority levels to make informed decisions and contribute to profitable underwriting practices.
ABOUT THE POSITION
- Underwriting and quoting for new business, renewals, and endorsements aligned with the company’s underwriting principles, rating criteria, and loss ratio.
- Negotiation of coverage and pricing, as well as involvement in underwriting audits.
- Develop positive and long term relationship with brokers.
- Lead and attend various broker events and industry conferences.
- Adoption of a collaborative team approach to achieve corporate and departmental goals and objectives, encompassing written premium targets and profitability goals.
THE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in mid-market Commercial P&C Underwriting
- Strong knowledge in commercial underwriting pricing models and guidelines
- Proven experience in developing relationships and projecting new business
- Experience in mentoring and training underwriters
- Insurance designation such as CIP, FCIP, or CRM is an asset
COMPENSATION
- $100,000 – $130,000 salary depending on experience plus annual bonus
