The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a Director, Learning & Development to join our Learning and Development team.
This role can be mostly remote, however we will on occasion require you to come onsite to our office at 151 Yonge St, Toronto, ON.
Reporting to the VP, Learning and Development, the Director, Learning & Development is responsible for leading a team responsible for the design, development, and delivery of high impact learning programs for our credit union advisors and their teams. The L&D Director will incorporate modern teaching methods to engage learners to develop their technical, sales effectiveness and practice management capabilities required to deliver comprehensive wealth advice to their members.
This role is responsible for incorporating the latest adult learning methodologies to develop solutions that increase client experience and engagement, enhance performance, develop capabilities, increase time to proficiency and aid knowledge transfer to help achieve our partner’s business results and positively contribute to Aviso’s relationships with our CU and other partners.

What your day looks like:
- As a highly experience educator with a financial planning or advisor background, you are accountable for the overall design and development, including scoping learning objectives, understanding target audiences, determining activities and collateral requirements and resourcing a suite of blended learning solutions to support the launch of the advisor curricula
- Regular maintenance of all Academy programs: advisor curricula, inventory of resources and tools, including reference guides, newsletters, technical papers, articles, process maps, helpful hints, best practices and FAQs based on client feedback and client satisfaction surveys
- Identify and deliver enhance learning delivery techniques and mechanism to improve learner and client experience.
- Lead and coach a team of learning professionals responsible for the build and launch of blended learning solutions to our clients
- Lead or participate on multiple internal projects varying in size and complexity
- Collaborate with partners and internal stakeholders on business-initiated projects to ensure successful project delivery and completion
- Act as a learning consultant to our Credit Union Partners’ Wealth and Retail leaders to understand advisory teams’ learning needs and to design & develop strategic learning solutions that improve individual and organizational performance
- Collaborate with internal team members to identify and streamline learning for internal and external learners
- Collect and analyze market conditions, call center data, trends, NIGOs (not in good order) and escalation logs to proactively identify and address through learning solutions advisors’ emerging and evolving needs
- Adhere to the compliance and regulatory requirements for the training of licensed individuals of our credit union partners
Requirements
Your experience and skills:
- A post secondary degree in an associated field of study (Business, Education, Accounting etc.)
- 5-10 years of experience in financial planning/advisory, financial services role
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in adult education / learning & development in the financial services industry
- 3-5 years of experience in a people management role with demonstrated success
- CFP, QAFP or PFP, or equivalent is a must
- Experience in the assessment, designing, developing of learning programs using modern learning techniques
- Knowledge of LMS capabilities to recommend delivery strategies to deliver an engaging and dynamic end-user experience
- Experience with Articulate 360 eLearning design tools, Learning Management software, and Knowledge Management tools
- Ability to manage projects within prescribed timeframes and budgets
- Change management experience and certification an asset
- Proven ability to build strong relationships, including interfacing and communicating effectively with employees at all levels across the organization
- Ability to lead and drive multiple competing priorities and thrive in a fast paced and complex environment
- Proven ability to analyze problems, identify key information and issues, interpret data and determine implications to provide recommendations and solutions
- Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset
