    Job description: The Opportunity

    The Consultant will help customers meet the appropriate risk standards within a specific complex / high risk industry segment, or a hazard or loss control technology requiring highly specialized expertise, or for international programs. Helps develop and maintain long-term customer relationships. Acts as a mentor/resource to other risk engineers in the coordination of services or the delivery of risk assessment and risk improvement services to customers and business partners. The provision of comprehensive risk insight is often for multiple lines or specialized industries of business and for global market and globally managed relationship customers.

    What you bring to the table:

    Job Qualifications

    Required:

    Bachelors Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Control area

    OR

    High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Risk Control area.

    OR

    Zurich Certified Apprentice, including an associate degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Control area.

    AND

    Knowledge of exposures, controls and best practice risk improvement.

    Preferred:

    Experience working with large & complex fleets.

    Prior experience in transportation considered a strong asset.

    Member of relevant industry-based organizations.

    CRM or CIP Designations considered an asset.

    What you will do:

    Assesses the quality of complex risks, for key/strategic assets, as described in the Zurich Resilience Solutions standard(s) and related competency level.

    Serve as a subject matter resource for transportation safety and liability within Casualty Risk Control with additional support to Middle Markets all lines surveys including property.

    Perform field engineering risk assessments and risk improvement services for prospect accounts and bound accounts in Alberta, British Columbia and as necessary in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Travel to other Provinces such as Ontario may be necessary for large accounts.

    Provide Risk Control support to underwriting teams and attend client/broker meetings as needed.

    Manage account risk portfolio and provide account level consultation to meet underwriting requirements.

    Develops Customer Service Plan for coordinated accounts that drive efficient field service.

    Provide advanced casualty consultative services to customers, identify exposures with significant loss potential, investigate cause/effect of major losses, and review/assess casualty management program effectiveness.

    Develop and implement customer service strategies that reduce losses and improve customer operations.

    Monitor casualty account consulting services to ensure that delivery is proper, on-time, and cost effective.

    Assist in marketing Zurich Resilience Solutions, and risk transfer insurance products in conjunction with underwriting professionals and agents across company business segments.

    Ensures the delivery and quality of services to the account by Zurich Resiliency Solutions as well as ensures consistency of assessments, risk improvement advice, reporting and time & expense management across the account.

    Communicates effectively with field risk consultants and nurtures relationships with industry partners such as brokers, industry consultants, professional organizations, and approval authorities.

    Provides expert advice on risk management issues to internal business partners and external customers by being a strategic partner to the customer’s Risk Manager and by providing extensive risk insights.

    Explores new service area opportunities, develops new services for customers, and identifies areas for cross-selling additional ZRS services.

    Manages change within the account by keeping in close contact with customer management and business partners, reviewing new projects and plans for change.
