    The Opportunity:

    We’re looking for a Senior Manager, RI Portfolio Management, to join the Investment Management team for 12 months.

    Your role will be required to regularly perform essential duties on behalf of the company from your assigned Aviso office. Your role is considered medium flexibility, requiring you to work onsite 1-3 days per week at our office at 151 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON.

    Reporting to the VP, Manager Research & Oversight, the Senior Manager, RI Portfolio Management will be key in integrating our RI expertise with our investment capabilities.

    What your day looks like:

    • Responsible for the manager oversight of sub-advisors. Ensure all 3rd party strategies deliver consistent alpha generation potential while taking appropriate risks. The oversight process includes, monthly monitoring, quarterly performance attribution review and annual on-site due diligence meetings
    • Leading investment management team’s effort to further RI/ESG integration at NEI. This includes furthering our commitment to RI investing by conducting RI research on portfolio managers as well as products
    • Maintain communication with the RI team on all matters related to RI in our funds
    • Conduct ongoing manager research to review managers/strategies and keep up-to-date the trend in institutional investment industry for opportunities to upgrade strategy or launch new products
    • Be the centre of knowledge for sub-advised strategies
    • Keep abreast of sub-advisors’ current investment views and contribute to the NEI Asset Allocation Committee which decides asset allocation for all multi-asset products
    • Assist in the production of monthly/quarterly and ad hoc reporting on portfolio compliance and fund performance to be used both internally and externally
    • Support sales & client service with regular institutional client reporting as well as ad-hoc investment pieces. Support the Legal and Finance teams with data gathering related to the production of all regulatory and financial reporting
    • Review quarterly manager commentaries and semi-annual MRFP commentaries for sub-advised strategies

    Requirements

    Your experience and skills:

    • University Degree in Business, science, math or any quantitative fields
    • CFA charter holder
    • Any finance related professional designations such as CAIA, CPA or Master’s degree in business or finance is an asset
    • 7-10 years’ overall work investment industry work experience
    • 2-5 years’ experience related to portfolio manager research
    • 2-5 years of experience related to Responsible Investing/ESG Investing
    • Advance skills in Excel and solid knowledge of databases
    • Advanced skills or has the ability to very quickly learn analytical tools such as eVestment, Morningstar Direct and Bloomberg
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Broad knowledge of global institutional investment management industry
    • Experience and knowledge of global institutional portfolio management processes in equity or fixed income
    • Experience working with RI investors or RI Research
    • Experience in researching global institutional investment strategies and making recommendation
