What’s the role?
Reporting to the Third-Party Administration Finance Supervisor, the Accounting Technician is responsible for the following:
- Perform bank reconciliations ensuring proper support for bank transactions is provided and using professional judgement to identify any unusual transactions requiring additional investigation and supportive documentation.
- Calculate, analyze, and process company premium remittances and broker commissions on time and accurately.
- Process intercompany bank transfers and implement appropriate tracking of bank transfers.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of the processes related to assigned tasks and suggest improvements.
- Understand the role of each team within the Third-Party Administration (TPA) department and how your work impacts Cowan.
- Prepare reconciliations and analysis accurately and on time.
- Account Receivable follow ups with specific client(s) and entering payment receipts in the accounting systems.
- Other ad-hoc tasks as required
What does it take?
- 1 – 2 years of previous Finance or accounting experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
- Excellent time management and prioritizing skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Critical-thinking and analytical skills.
- Strong numeracy skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when managing company records.
