    About the role

    We’re looking for a Sales and Business Development Director to join our growing team!

    The Sales and Business Development Director will lead a team of Business Development Managers to support dynamic broker partners and achieve profitability and growth in the Ontario East territory.

    You will work closely and report to report to the Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Ontario East.

    You are strategically minded with strong leadership skills, you are innovative, solutions oriented and agile with a strong sense of teamwork & collaboration, this role is maybe for you!

    Location – Ottawa (1200, St-Laurent blvd.)

    What you’ll do here:

    • Develop strategies to retain and expand business with brokers on co-ordinated strategic initiatives.
    • Ensure Business Development Managers are closely collaborating with the operations teams (underwriting, claims, broker communications) to achieve desired business results.
    • Establish objectives, implement, and monitor detailed growth plans in collaboration with the Centers of Excellence Directors by line of business.
    • Monitor & measure business development activities adapted to the respective realities of the broker profile, and pivot approach and strategies accordingly.
    • Participate in the development of strategies and communicate the vision of the organization in relation to Intact’s strategic pillars, digital products, and business philosophy.
    • Collaborate in the financial transactions of the brokers in the territory (financial solutions, sales and acquisitions).
    • Drive team towards excellence and achieve a consistent and sustained level of commitment with a solution-oriented mindset.
    • Remain current with market intelligence to identify head/tailwinds in the marketplace.
    • Ensure the performance and development of the skills of business development managers and ensure adequate succession.
    • Be an ambassador of change by applying best practices in terms of change management (lead by example, get involved, mobilize).

    What you bring to the table:

    • Post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline and/or more than 8 years of related insurance experience.
    • 3-5 years of management experience and leading a team.
    • Strong business acumen and a deep understanding of broker operations.
    • Excellent leadership skills and experience in analytics-based decision-making.
    • Proven ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders.
    • Propensity for being creative in solutions with an entrepreneurial spirit.
    • Recognized as an excellent negotiator in moderate to complex situations.
    • Demonstrate a high degree of autonomy, organization, and proactivity.
    • Capacity to adapt to change and work under pressure.
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to create and present compelling business case and strategy.
    • Strive for excellence and be inspired by the business.
    • Have a valid driver’s license with good driving record.
