    About the role

    We’re looking for a Manager, Specialty solutions, to join our growing team!

    What you’ll do here:

    • Build a strong book of profitable business while also auditing policies to ensure adherence to company standards.
    • Coach underwriters and assist in negotiating with brokers on larger opportunities.
    • Train brokers and underwriting staff on underwriting matters.
    • Communicate on a regular basis with key broker contacts on accounts, plans and results.
    • Liaison with the Business Development Team to reinforce and facilitate desired effects to the broker’s portfolio performance.
    • Manage employee performance and contribute to the salary review process.
    • Hold regular team meetings with staff to communicate corporate and branch issues and to respond to employee issues.
    • Participate in the establishment of premium and loss ratio targets.
    • Authorize the acceptance of new business, renewals and endorsements.
    • Promote the company’s products through information sessions with brokers.
    • Develop and manage effective working relationships with brokers, staff, and other departments.
    • Establish and maintain service levels by organizing and monitoring work flow and setting priorities to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity.
    • Establish goals and monitor the development of underwriting staff to ensure achievement of department Business Plan.

    What you bring to the table:

    • University and/or College Degree or any combination of equivalent education and experience
    • Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant experience
    • Have previous experience in Commercial/Personal Lines
    • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
    • Previous supervisory experience an asset
    • Sound knowledge of all commercial lines insurance written
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
    • Can work in a constantly changing environment
    • Strong customer service orientation
    • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
